Today we complete the Yamnuska Traverse. The crew put in a solid effort, completing the traverse in 4 hours 30 minutes car to car!

Some highlights:
Limbo - trees knocked down by last week's snow storm
School's Out
First crux
Getting a view of the false summit
Looking over the edge of the East End
Looking over the edge of the East Side

Continuing on
Tricky climbing
Rest stop at one of the false summits
Snow patches
The chains
The chains got everyone pretty excited

Past the chains it didn't get a whole lot easier for a while
Nearing the summit
This is the top anchor for Diretissima, a rock climb that ascends the center of the vertical face to Yam's summit.
The former large cairn is gone. Just a couple of baby cairns now.

The view from the top
Coming down the west side
Getting a bit tired...
Just as we ran out of water we reached the spring!
A glorious day, and an accomplishment that all of the kids will be proud of for life. The view of Yam from the Rez.

Canoeing on the Bow River

On Wednesday our adventures took us on to the Bow River to practise our strokes. We mastered the draw stroke, cross draw, sweeps, backstrokes, and eddy turns.

The Stoneys feel read for the Kananaskis River!!

Camp Chief Hector Canoeing

Canoeing on Chilver Lake was a lot more exciting than anticipated with a couple of gnarly portages. Thigh deep mud and the thickest willows imaginable made for a formidable challenge. The Stoneys rose to the challenge victorious.
