Pond Hockey

Our first pond hockey of the season came late -- the middle of November -- and conditions were far from ideal after the big freeze and dump of snow at the start of the month. But the front range winds blew much of the snow and made things just good enough for some pickup hockey on Gap Lake. Here's the inaugural game!

Kootenay Paint Pots

The Paint Pots in Kootenay National Park are an ancient, sacred source for pigments for the Stoneys. We were privileged to have Daryl Kootenay explain the history as well as offer some tobacco and pray.

Fishing the Morley Rollers

One day, after climbing at the Elevation Place, we decided to see what the fishing was like below the "Morley Rollers" -- class 2 rapids upstream from the townsite. Within minutes, Timmy caught his first fish -- a trout -- ever.

Elevation Place climbing gym is where we seek refuge when the weather isn't cooperating.

Ptarmigan Cirque

Fall 2014 was just about PERFECT for all of the activities we had planned, with mostly clear skies, loads of sunshine, and pleasant temperatures.

Our hike into Ptarmigan Cirque marked the end of all that, with ankle deep snow to get us thinking about.... well, winter and how to dress appropriately.

CPAWS

Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society has come by for three sessions on Grizzly Bear awareness, culminating in a nature walk around Yamnuska that had all students fascinated and thinking.

Once again we've been having a great time learning from Chris Neve and the gang at the Sally Borden climbing gym at the Banff Center. Our most recent activities have included creating our own boulder problems!
